As a visual artist in the public art realm I enjoy creating artwork that is specifically relevant to a site.  My approach to imagery begins with an exploration of the function, purpose, location, cultural history, and character of the project's setting.  I utilize representational, stylized, and abstract elements in my work which often become symbols and metaphors to support the content of the message I wish to convey.

One of four units placed in Hanford High School,

"Textures of a Memory," 2007, recalls the glacial ice floods that tore through the

Richland/Tri-Cities area in Eastern Washington,

leaving textural scars on the landscape. Four stampeding horses atop each unit

metaphorically depict the texture of sound that accompanied the floods.
